Discussion of the subsidy regulations and how they apply to the Child Day Center (CDC).
Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety (SHSI) inspection was conducted at the Augusta School located in Sterling, Virginia. This inspection was conducted on 10/01/2019, between the hours of 8 am through 3 pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. An Unannounced Monitoring Inspection was also conducted on this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that were not covered in licensing standards were reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and were identified on the violation notice. Based on review, 3 of 5 staff files indicated that staff who were employed prior to October 17, 2018 did not complete or obtain a certificate for the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff by January 16 2019; no did a staff member complete this training within 90 days of their date of hire date.
Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (10/01/2019), the following staff did not have a certificate of completion for the Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff: Staff #1, Staff #3, and Staff #4. 2. The start date for Staff #3 was listed as 10/15/2018. The start date for Staff #4 was listed as 03/24/2014. 3. Staff #1 did not complete this training within 90 days of their start date (06/10/2019).
Plan of Correction:
All applicable staff shall complete this training and place the certificate on file.

Based on review, 2 of 5 staff files indicated that not all staff were certified in CPR and First Aid.
Evidence - 1. On the date of inspection (10/01/2019), current certifications in CPR and First Aid were not available for review for: Staff #3, and Staff #4. 2. This was confirmed on the date of inspection by Staff #3.
Plan of Correction:
All staff shall obtain CPR and First Aid. New staff shall obtain these certifications within 90 days of their start date.
