Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted between the hours of 9:45am through 11:50am. There were a total of 5 children present (8 points) ranging in ages between 4 and 5 years old with the Provider. A total of 5 children?s files, the provider's file, 3 household member's files, and 3 pet files were reviewed. The children were engaged in the following: coloring, practicing writing, counting, reading books, playing outside, and eating snack. Positive interactions between the provider and children were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the programming space, children and staff records, evacuation drills, menu, attendance, and emergency procedures were completed today. No new staff have been hired since the last inspection. The provider advised she does not administer medication and there was no medication on site today. There was an abundant supply of age appropriate materials and toys and the home was clean and organized. Please contact me with any questions or concerns at morgan.bryson1@dss.virginia.gov.
Based on review of the emergency drill log and interview with the provider, shelter-in-place drills have not been practiced a minimum of twice per year.
Evidence: There were no shelter-in-place drills documented over the past year. The last documented shelter-in-place drill was 1/9/2018.
Plan of Correction:
I will immediately do a shelter-in-place drill and make sure to do the shelter-in-place drill once every six months.
Standard #:
22VAC40-111-60-B
Description:
Based on record review, 1 of 5 children's records reviewed did not contain all required information.
Evidence: Child #5's record was missing written authorization for emergency medical care should an emergency occur and the parent cannot be located immediately.
Plan of Correction:
I am going to make sure the parent either signs the authorization or a letter stating why they're not going to sign it.
