Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on February 5, 2020 between 9:30am and 12:30pm. There were 78 children in the direct care of 11 staff members. Children were observed working on math and number identification, continents and maps, participating in music class, washing hands, and napping. The center is clean, organized, and offers age-appropriate materials for all age groups in care. Areas of non-compliance are listed on the violation notice. Standard #: 22VAC40-185-510-E
Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that a medication was labeled with the child's name.

Evidence: A bottle of saline drops was located above the changing table and was not labeled in a way to identify the owner.

Plan of Correction: Labeled Saline drops during inspection. Provided blank labels for teachers to apply.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-550-D
Description: Based on observation, the center did not practice evacuation drills monthly.

Evidence: The center did not have documentation that evacuation drills were conducted January 2020, November 2019, and August 2019. The center had documentation that shelter-in-place drills were conducted during those months.

Plan of Correction: Have monthly fire and shelter in place drills.

Standard #: 22VAC40-185-560-G
Description: Based on observation, the center did not ensure that food brought from home is dated and labeled in a way that identifies the owner.
Evidence: In the infant classroom, items in the refrigerator were not dated. Storage containers in the refrigerator were labeled with 2 names without a way of identifying which food items belongs to each child.

Plan of Correction: Gave blank labels to teachers with the directions to apply when parents do not date. Sent letters to parents reminding to date food.
