Comments:
A code compliance inspection was conducted on Monday, March 23, 2023. The inspector was on site from 10:00am to approximately 10:55am. There were six children in attendance with two staff directly supervising. During the inspection, the children and staff were observed participating in a variety of activities. Staff were observed having positive interactions with the children. All areas of the facility including classrooms, hallways, the outdoor play area, and bathrooms were inspected. Five children's records and two staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on a review of two staff records and interview, the center did not ensure two staff had the satisfactory results of the fingerprint-based national criminal background check within the required timeframe.
Evidence: 1) The record of Staff #1, employed 09/04/2018, did not contain documentation of the satisfactory results of the fingerprint-based national criminal background check.
2) The results of the fingerprint-based national criminal background check in the record of Staff #2, employed 02/01/2023, were dated 02/08/2023.
3) During interview, a member of administration reported the fingerprint results for Staff #1 could not be located and the results for Staff #2 were not obtained prior to employment.
Plan of Correction:
Per the Center: "Fingerprints will be obtained before employment in the future. Staff #1 had fingerprints done in the past but a form was not sent to preschool. Staff #1 has a appointment on April 4th. Staff #2 already has hers done."
