Comments:
An unannounced inspection was conducted in response to a self-report received in the licensing office on January 8, 2020. Interviews were conducted with staff, records reviewed and observations were made of the home. Based on the information gathered a violation was cited in the area of Physical Environment and Equipment. Children, staff and pet records were reviewed.
Based on interviews with staff, the licensee did not ensure animal excrement was removed promptly. Evidence On January 08, 2020, a 2 year-old child #1 stepped in dog excrement when playing in the backyard during outside time. The licensee had a landscaping company out that morning and assumed all of the excrement had been removed from the yard.
Plan of Correction:
The following plan of correction was provided by the licensee during the exit interview: The licensee self-reported the same day and provided paperwork that shows the landscaping company had been out. It was assumed all of the dog's excrement was removed. The child's shoes were removed and cleaned immediately. In the future the licensee will inspect the yard before taking children out to play.
