Technical Assistance:
The following was discussed with the director during the inspection: The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. The following was also discussed in relation to the latest COVID-19 guidance: Removing materials from classroms such as linens, porous surfaces and/or not easily able to be cleaned and disinfected. Areas in the classrooms such as a "cozy cubes" which may include pillows and linens in a small space, is not recommended during this time.
Please be sure to monitor the temperatures in the infant/toddler refrigerators. The temperature for a refigerator should be 40 degrees F or less.
Keeping first aid and emergency supplies in one area so that it easily accessed whenever children are in care, to include fire drills and evacuations is recommended.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A renewal inspection was initiated on 10/05/2020 and concluded on 10/06/2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 120 children present and 26 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
Based on a record review, the center did not ensure all requirements were met for each staff person's record. Evidence: Staff #5 (hired 03/20/20) did not have documentation of having received an orientation.
Plan of Correction:
The following plan of correction was provided by the director: The staff did have an oreintation, however failed to sign the checklist and date when it was given.The staff member reviewed the orientation checklist after the inspection and signed and dated in the appropriate place.
