Technical Assistance:
The licensee has not yet completed the new out-of-state background check requirements (sex offender and criminal history) that are required for all staff and employees that have lived outside of the state of Virginia within the last 5 years. The licensee must obtain the results of these additional background checks by 12/31/2020.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on 12/2/2020 and concluded on 12/4/2020. The Director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children present with the Director during the inspection. The program is currently operating virtually. The inspector emailed the Director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 1 staff record submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or laws and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The licensing inspector has reviewed with the Provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on record review, the center has not obtain an out-of-state central registry background check for a volunteer who has lived outside of the state of Virginia within the last five years. Evidence: Staff #4's Virginia state central registry check confirms that they resided in the state of California within the last five years. There is no central registry background check request or results in Staff #4's file. This was cited at the last inspection on January 27, 2020.
Plan of Correction:
I will try to locate the results. It may be in the mail at the school.
