Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today between 9:00am-11:50am. There were 10 children present with the Provider and 2 assistants for a total of 29 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed playing with toys, eating morning snack, being held and fed bottles and other organized activities. Positive interactions were observed during this inspection. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, menu, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Violations were found during today?s inspection and can be viewed on the Violation Notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 22.1-289.035-A
Description: Based on a review of caregiver records, 1 out of 3 caregivers did not undergo a background check in accordance with subsection B prior to employment.

Evidence:
1. Caregiver #3 (doh: 9/11/2023) did not have documentation of the results of a search of the child abuse and neglect registry required for Virginia on file at the time of the inspection.

Plan of Correction: I mailed the central registry out last week. I am waiting for the results.

Standard #: 22.1-289.035-B-2
Description: Based on a review of caregiver records, 1 out of 3 caregivers did not submit to fingerprinting and provide personal descriptive information described in subdivision B 2 of ? 19.2-392.02.

Evidence:
1. Caregiver #3 (doh: 9/11/2023) did not have documentation of fingerprints results (requested by the Provider) on file at the time of the inspection.

Plan of Correction: I made an appointment to get the fingerprints done. I have freceived and filed the results.
