Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A subsidy health and safety inspection was initiated on 4/22/2021 and concluded on 4/27/2021. The director was contacted by email to initiate the inspection. There were 47 children present and 10 staff. A licensing inspection was conducted on the same date as the SHSI supplemental inspection. Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with subsidy regulations, and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
Based upon review of six staff records, the facility has not ensured that staff are evaluated by a health professional and are issued a statement that the individual is free of communicable tuberculosis that was completed within the last 30 calendar days prior to employment. Evidence: The record provided for staff 2 indicated a date of employ of 2/3/2021. The tuberculosis screening in the record is date 9/16/2020, which is not within 30 days prior to hire.
Plan of Correction:
The facility responded with the following: In the future, we will ensure that results of a tuberculosis screening are obtained within 30 days prior to hire and before the staff person has access to children.
