Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on August 11, 2020 and concluded on August 14, 2020. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection at 12:00 p.m. A video inspection was conducted beginning at 12:15 p.m. There were 5 children present and 2 staff. Children were observed during nap time. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed three children?s records, two staff records, three household member records and one pet record submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Emergency drills were up to date and the monthly menu was reviewed. Staff training hours were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with an applicable standard or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based on review of documentation and interview with the provider, it was determined that the provider did not have documenation of a central registry background check for all household members age 14 and older. Evidence: Household member #1 turned 14 years old in March of 2019 and there was no documentation of a central registry background check in the record.
Plan of Correction:
Household member #1's central registry background check will be completed as soon as possible.
