Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on Friday, January 3, 2020 to determine the center?s compliance with licensing standards. The inspector arrived at 10:30am and concluded the inspection at approximately 1:35pm. The center?s education coordinator was present and assisted the inspector throughout the inspection. The census for today?s inspection consisted of 81 children in the direct care of 16 staff members. Additional staff were on site and available to the children in care. Upon arrival, the children were engaged in a variety of activities. Each classroom was inspected and formal observations were completed. The center is equipped with age and stage appropriate materials and equipment for the children?s use. All areas where the children receive care, inside and outside, were inspected. The center had the following posted: license, daily schedules, emergency numbers, evacuation maps, menu, special orders, and various parent information. Today?s lunch consisted of BBQ chicken on bun, mixed vegetables, fruit cocktail, and milk. The center?s first aid kit and non-emergency supplies were inspected and found complete. Transportation is not provided at this time. During the inspection, eight children?s records and eight staff records were reviewed. Medication is administered and one medication was reviewed today. The most recent evacuation drill was documented on 12/10/19. A shelter-in-place drill was documented on 06/21/19 and a second one on 12/05/19.

Based on observations on 01/03/2020, the center did not ensure that hazardous substances such as cleaning materials shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: 1) The licensing inspector observed a bottle of disinfectant spray and a bottle of air freshener on a shelf in the EPS 1 bathroom. The cleaning supplies were out of reach of children, but they were not locked.
Plan of Correction:
Corrected on site. The items were removed from the classroom.
