Technical Assistance:
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) assumed oversight of child care licensing and monitoring on July 1, 2021. All associated regulations and codes have transferred over from the Virginia Department of Social Services. Guidance, resources and training links can be found on the new website childcareva.com.
Annual staff training will be reviewed at the next licensing inspection.
Comments:
A Monitoring inspection was initiated today. This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program. The provider was contacted by Facetime and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were a total of 10 children present with 2 staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 3 child records and all staff records and all household were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Based on staff record review, 3 background checks were not obtained. Evidence: Provider did not obtain out of state criminal history check, out of state sex offender and an out of state Central Registry search for Staff #2 who was hired on 06/25/2020
Plan of Correction:
All 3 background checks will be conducted. Results will be forwarded to the Licensing Inspector for review within 10 days.
