Technical Assistance:
Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 6/03/2024 from 9:45am to 10:55am. At the time of entrance, 7 children were in care with 2 staff members present. Children were observed during a science lesson, playing in centers and painting. (2) staff records, and (2) children?s records, the physical space and evacuation drills were reviewed. The site was clean and organized. Interactions between the children and staff were positive. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the violation notice. Repeat violations were found and are identified within this report.
Please complete the ?plan of correction? and ?date to be corrected? for each violation cited on the violation notice and return it to the department within 5 business days from receipt. Please specify how the deficient practice will be or has been corrected. Please do not use staff names; list staff by positions only.
Any plans of correction not received within 5 business days will result in the plans not appearing on the Violation Notice and public website.

Repeat Violation Based on observation and interview, the center did not maintain, in a way that is accessible to all staff who work with children, a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions documented in the allergy plan. Evidence: 1. Record review of one child's physical documented a child with a food allergy. 2. Staff stated a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions does not exist. Staff stated the parent updated the child's information and the child is no longer allergic to food.
