An unannounced complaint investigation was initiated today in response to an online complaint that was received by the Licensing office on 1/31/20. Interviews were conducted and data was reviewed relating to the allegation of a classroom being out of ratio. It was determined that in the Toddler classroom, the children were out of ratio on 1/30/20 from 7:23am-7:31am. See Violation Notice for more details. Therefore, this complaint is determined to be "Valid". There are no other violations as a result from this investigation. Should you have any questions, please contact me at mary.wizbicki@dss.virginia.gov
Based on data review and interviews, the center failed to comply with the staff to children ratio (1:5) for children 16 months-2 years old. Evidence 1. On 1/30, it was determined that there were 6 children under the supervision of 1 teacher in the Toddler classroom from 7:23am-7:30am. At this time, there were 7 children under the supervision of 1 teacher. At 7:31am, a second teacher came into the classroom, which then put the children within the required ratio of 1:5.
Plan of Correction:
We will remind staff to contact the front office if another teacher is needed to comply with the ratio.
