Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on January 3, 2024, from 9:15am-11:30am. At the time of entrance, ( 103 ) children were in care with ( 22) staff members present. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records. Children were observed during snack time, engaged in group story time, coloring, tracing alphabets, manipulatives, truck shapes, diapering and handwashing and outdoor play time.Medications were observed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-E
Description: Based on a review of children medications, the center did not follow procedures for ensuring that a child's long term medication has a written authorization form signed by both the parent and the physician.
Evidence: Child #1 has an Epi Pen on site, there is no written medication authorization from the parent or the physician to administer this medication in an emergency.

Plan of Correction: The parent was immediately contacted and will get a authorization form from the physician.

Standard #: 8VAC20-780-510-P
Description: Based on a review of children medications, one child's medication expired and has not been returned within 14 days.
Evidence: Child #1 Benadryl expired 11/2023. The parent has not been contacted within 14 days of the expiration to pick up the medication.

Plan of Correction: The parent was immediately contacted and will pick up the expired medication.
