Technical Assistance:
Potable Water Lead Testing Requirements: Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on July 2, 2024, from 9:00am-11:30am. At the time of entrance, ( 89 ) children were in care with ( 16 ) staff members present. The inspector reviewed 5 children?s records and 5 staff records. Children were observed during snack time, engaged in group story time, legos, manipulative diapering and handwashing. Medications were observed. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the violation notice. Based on a review of children records, 2 children records did not have updated documentation of immunizations once every six months for children under the age of two years old. Evidence: Child # 3, date of birth 3-14-2023 does not have updated immunizations. Last documented update was 9/8/2023. Child # 4, date of birth 12-2-2021 did not obtain updated immunizations every 6 months up to the age of 2 years old. The child enrolled 3-21-22, the last immunization update is dated 2-2-2022.
Plan of Correction:
Management with ask for updated immunization records for the children.

Based on a review of staff records, 1 staff record did not have documentation of at least 2 references before employment. Evidence: Staff #2, date of employment 11-27-2023 did not have documentation of 2 references on file prior to employment. The staff was observed caring for children this date.

Description:
Based on a review of medication, 1 child's long term prescription medication did not include the parent's and physician's authorization for the administration of medication. Evidence: Child # 6 has a prescription cream for allergies. The medication authorization was signed by the parent on 4/17/2024 but there was no signature from the physician.
Plan of Correction:
The medication will be returned to the parent.
