Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted today from 9:00am through 1:40pm to review supplemental health and safety requirements. A total of 107 children were present with 19 caregivers. The children were engaged in the following: listening to story time, participating in circle time, singing a "welcome" song, painting, playing with building blocks, doing an art activity and learning the letter "K", and learning colors in Spanish. Infant care including feeding and diapering was also observed during this inspection. Programming, menus, emergency procedures, the physical plant, 4 medications, and 11 children?s records and 5 staff records were reviewed.
A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice. Please contact me with any questions at morgan.bryson1@dss.virginia.gov.
Based on record review, 1 of 5 staff records reviewed did not contain documentation that the individual is free of communicable tuberculosis (TB) at the time of employment and prior to coming into contact with children.
Evidence: Staff #1 (Date of Hire: 5/6/19) has a tuberculosis screening on file dated 6/26/19.
Plan of Correction:
Upon the understanding of subsidy requirements, moving forward we will ensure every employee has TB testing or screening prior to or on their date of hire.
