Technical Assistance:
Technical assistance was provided regarding when the providers children need to have background checks: when one turns 14 a CPS background check needs to be completed and when one turns 18 a fingerprint, sworn statement and TB screening needs to be completed. The children point system was also discussed: one provider can have up to 16 points before another caregiver is needed. The point system is as follows: birth to 15 months: 4 points, 16 months to 23 months: 3 points, 2 years to 4 years: 2 points, 5 years old to 9 years old: 1 point and 10 and older: 0 points. Anything that says "keep out of reach of children" on the label needs to be inaccessible to children.
Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted today from 10:30am-12:30pm. There were 3 children (9 points) supervised by 1 direct caregiver. The home, children?s records, 4 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies. Diapering procedures were discussed. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice. Thank you for your cooperation during this inspection. Based on observation, potentially poisonous substances are accessible to children.
Evidence:
Located in the bathroom the children use, cosmetics, cleaning agents and other chemicals are not locked up and accessible to children.
Plan of Correction:
I will move them and make sure they are locked up.
