Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 4/14/21. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children in care and 1 caregiver present. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 1 caregiver record and 3 household member's records virtually to ensure documentation was complete. A virtual walk through of the family day home was conducted to assess the space to be used for children. There were no children records to review. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. For any questions related to this inspection, please contact me at 571-835-4718 or mahrukh.aziz@dss.virginia.gov.
Based on records review and staff interview, the family day home provider did not obtain results of the Virginia central registry checks for an employee every five years. Evidence: 1. Caregiver # 1's most recent central registry results expired on 3/9/21. 2. Caregiver # 1 stated that she printed the forms but forgot to mail them.
Plan of Correction:
I will mail the form by the end of the week and follow up with the licensing inspector as soon as the results are obtained.
