Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on November 1, 2019 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. The on-site inspection was from 1:10 p.m. to 3:10 p.m. On this date, at the time of arrival, there were seven children present and in the care of the provider (16 points). An assistant came to assist soon after arrival. There were 16 children enrolled in the center. The records for the provider and one assistant were reviewed along with the records for five children. The provider, the assistant and three children were interviewed. There was no medication being administered, which is the policy of the provider.

A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. A violation was found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection and is identified on the violation notice.

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-665-370-A-1
Description: Based on observation and confirmation from the provider, the provider failed to have the children wash their hands after eating.

Evidence:
1. After afternoon snack, the provider did not have the children wash their hands with soap and running water or with a disposable wipe.
2. The provider reported that she normally does have the children wash their hands at the sink after eating but forgot this one time.

Plan of Correction: The provider will ensure that every child washes or wipes their hands after they eat meals or snacks.
