Effective January 1, 2025, the VDOE will begin determining compliance with ? 22.1-289.057 of the Code of Virginia, which is legislation passed by the General Assembly in 2020. The law requires all licensed child day programs, religious exempt child day centers that serve preschool age children, and certified preschools to test potable drinking water. The law requires that programs submit their plans and test results to the Virginia Department of Health Office of Drinking Water (VDH ODW) and the Superintendent. If the results of the testing indicate elevated lead levels, the program shall remediate, retest, and resubmit results to VDH ODW and the Superintendent. There is an additional alternative bottled water option that comes with additional requirements. An unannounced monitoring inspection was initiated on 05/31/2024 at 12:20 pm and completed on 05/31/2024 at 1:21 pm.
At the time of entrance there were 17 children in care with 2 staff supervising. The children ranged in age from 22 months - 5 years. Children were observed during nap.
The inspector confirmed correction of all violations from the 02/13/2024 monitoring inspection. Records were reviewed for 3 staff and 1 child. The outdoor play area and indoor areas were observed.
The information gathered during the inspection determined no violations with applicable standards or law. No violations were issued.
