Comments:
An unannounced Monitoring Inspection was conducted today. A total of 4 children (7pts) and Provider were onsite. The children were actively engaged in free play and interacting with the provider. The home was furnished with toys, equipment and materials that were age appropriate for the children currently in care. No medication needs or food allergies were identified. Observation of the programming space, diapering area, bathroom, kitchen and backyard was made. The table was sanitized prior to the children transitioning to lunch. Lunch today was chicken with pasta, cucumber and sliced apples. The provider was observed sitting with the children and encouraging them to eat. A total of 4 children's records were reviewed. No new staff or changes in household members since the last inspection. All background checks/health screenings remain current. This inspection occurred between 11am and ended at approximately 1:15pm. Thank you for your cooperation today. Please email me at: lisa.hudson@doe.virginia.gov with any questions.
Based on child record review, documentation that two children were adequately immunized was not obtained prior to enrollment. Evidence: Child #3 and #4 documented start date was 1/10/2022. Immunizations on file dated 04/2021 does not include a statement that both children have been adequately immunized.
Plan of Correction:
A child will not begin care until current immunizations are received that documents they are adequately immunized.
Standard #:
8VAC20-800-240-A
Description:
Based on observation of the provider's backyard, areas of the yard were not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: The gate at the top of the steps leading to the basement and the barriers on the side rails are not adequately secured to prevent a hazard.
Plan of Correction:
A secured gate and barriers on the stair rails will be installed. Children will only be able to play on the deck and will not be permitted to play in the backyard until this is completed.
