Technical Assistance:
LI reminded the provider that several of the children's records will be due for an annual update of contact information within the next few weeks. Also discussed appropriate medication authorization forms: both prescription and over-the-counter medications that are kept at the family day home for more than 10 days require a parent and doctor authorization.
Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today between 1:45pm and 3:35pm. There were 9 children present with the Provider and 1 assistant for a total of 23 points within the supervision guidelines. The children were observed napping, waking up from their naps, pottying, practicing to put their socks and shoes on and eating snack. A complete inspection of the physical plant, children and staff records, fire drill log, menu, attendance and emergency procedures were observed during this inspection. Positive interactions were observed. The children have an ample amount of toys and supplies available. Thank you for your cooperation. If you have any questions, please e-mail me at whitney.mcgrath@dss.virginia.gov.
Based on observation, children were allowed to drink while lying down. Evidence: Caregiver #3 was observed leaning over a crib and feeding a child a bottle while the child was laying awake in the crib.
Plan of Correction:
This was corrected during the inspection.
Standard #:
22VAC40-111-60-B
Description:
Based on record review, children's records did not contain all required information. Evidence: Child #5 does not contain the address of their second emergency contact.
Plan of Correction:
I'll have the parents fill in the address today when they pick up.
