Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 02/28/2024 from 8:55am to 10:00am. There were 5 children ages 4 months to age 4 years old (15 points) with the Provider. The programming area, attendance, menus, Provider and Household member records, 5 children?s records, emergency drills, emergency supplies, and policies were reviewed. There were no children?s medications onsite. Children were observed participating in reading, singing, building activities, a Spanish lesson and infant feeding. Handwashing procedures were also observed. There was an adequate number of staff present with current certification in CPR and First Aid training. Areas of non-compliance are identified in the Violation Notice.

Based on observation and staff interview, the provider did not ensure that medication was kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: A medication was not locked up and was stored on the table in the kitchen where the children have access.
Plan of Correction:
All medication will be stored in the locked cabinet located in a bathroom not used by daycare children.

Description:
Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that small electrical appliances were unplugged when not being used.
Evidence: During an inspection of the kitchen, a toaster, and electric fryer were plugged in and not in use.

When appliances are not being used they will be unplugged.

Description:
Based on observation, the provider did not ensure that a safety strap was used and securely fastened in an infant seat that was occupied.
Evidence: Upon arrival for the inspection, an infant (age 4 months old) was laying in an infant seat where the safety straps were not fastened.
Plan of Correction:
As soon as an infant is placed in the infant seat they will be strapped in.
