Technical Assistance:
The lighting in the back nap room was discussed with the program director. There must be adequate lighting during nap time to ensure that staff can adequately see and supervise sleeping children.
All documents (enrolment paperwork, injury records, medication, etc.) must include the child's FULL NAME.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A monitoring inspection was initiated on 03/19/2021 and concluded on 03/24/2021. The director was contacted by email to initiate the inspection. There were 17 children present and 6 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 2 children?s records and 2 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs.
Based upon review of two children's records and staff interview, the facility has not ensured that each child shall have a physical examination by or under the direction of a physician before the child's attendance or within one month after attending. Evidence: 1. The record provided for child 1 indicates an enrollment date of 1/10/2021. Documentation of a physical examination was not in the record. 2. Staff 1 verified that documentation of a physical examination was not obtained for child 1.
Plan of Correction:
The facility responded with the following: The child's most recent doctor visit was in February 2021. The parent will be notified to provide documentation of a physical examination. All children's records will be checked to ensure the required documentation is obtained and filed.
