Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 10:40am-12:25pm. There were 17 children (1-5 years old) directly supervised by 4 staff. The physical plant, 4 staff records, 5 children?s records, medications, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed playing on the playground, and eating snack. There was an ample supply of materials for the children. Staff-to-child ratios were in compliance. The center was clean and organized. Areas of non-compliance are identified on the Violation Notice. Based on record review, the center did not ensure that all staff completed the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within 90 days of employment.
Evidence: Staff #4 (DOH:7/11/2023) did not complete the Virginia Department of Education-sponsored orientation course within 90 days of employment.
Plan of Correction:
When new employees are hired, pert of their orientation process will be one on one support getting them set-up or login with Virginia Childcare. During their first login, guidance will be provided to ensure the required 10 hours. Health and Safety training is taken before other training. In addition, a 30 days, 60 days, and 80 days from the DOH follow-up will be conducted.

Description:
Based on record review, interview and observation, a staff member with CPR/first aid certification was not present in each classroom where children were present.
Evidence: During the inspection, Staff #1 was the only staff member present in the 3 - 4 year old classroom. The staff member did not have a current CPR/first aid training certification, their certification expired on 8/19/23.
Plan of Correction:
To ensure all staff receive and stay current with their CPR/First-Aid trainings, we will schedule these trainings during our In-service Training Week.
