Technical Assistance:
Consultation today included moving portable slide to another area with more resilient surfacing; finding another place for the step-on trash.
Comments:
An unannounced renewal took place today from 10 am - 12 pm. There were 7 children present today for 22 points with the provider and assistant. I observed preschoolagers singing age-appropriate silly songs; coloring and pasting letters; and discussing a variety of subjects. I observed infants & toddlers playing with musical instruments, stacking soft blocks and hearing descriptions of colors in English & Spanish. The home now has a multi-seat carriage for nature walks. Records were well-organized and complete. If you have any questions, please contact me at brenda.kuhlman@dss.virginia.gov
Based on a review of records today, the menu did not reflect today's substituted food as required. Evidence: Today the children will have homemade chicken noodle soup, but hamburgers were listed on the menu.
Plan of Correction:
I will write the monthly menu and make changes before the different food is served.
Standard #:

Description:
1. Although other areas of the deck have been covered with indoor/outdoor carpet, one area that is not covered is a deep gash in the wood that poses a tripping hazard. 2. A utility ladder was stored sideways but still in an area accessible to the children.
Plan of Correction:
1. I will cover that section with carpet or fill it with wood putty, depending on what zoning decides about the deck. 2. The ladder will be removed and stored behind the shed.
