Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was initiated on February 3, 2021 and concluded on February 3, 2021. The provider was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were seven children present and two staff. The inspector emailed the provider a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed two children?s records and three caregiver records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
Based on observation, the provider did not ensure pressure mounted gates were not used as protective barriers at a stair opening.
Evidence: A pressure mounted gate was placed at the bottom of the stair opening located in the child care area. There were a total of seven children in care in the child care area ranging from 15 months to 7 years of age.
