Technical Assistance:
Please be sure to have an updated fireplace inspection and accompanying documentation before this fall. Fireplace inspections are required annually. Today we discussed the use of a form to clearly document the required drills (evacuation monthly, shelter in place 2 x per year and Lock Down 1x per year). This documentation will be reviewed at each inspection, so organizing the information on a designated form located in an area where it can be easily obtained would be very helpful. It is strongly suggested that Medication Administration Training (MAT) be obtained since there is a child in care whose allergic reaction may require the administration of an emergency Epi-pen. MAT is required to administer prescription medication to a child in care.

Comments:
An unannounced Monitoring inspection to review the Health and Safety Requirements for Voluntary Registered Family Day Homes was conducted on 7/22/19 from 1:30 until 2:50 p.m. There were 2 children, ages 2 years and 5 years, for a total of 3 points in care at the time of arrival with the provider. The records sample size consisted of 6 children?s records and 1provider record. Children were observed having an afternoon snack and playing with toys together. Hand washing, food service and restroom procedures were observed today. Medication administration was not observed. The provider states that no medication is administered to children in care at this time and that children are routinely transported in a vehicle. Requirements for transportation and outings were reviewed. Children play outdoors at a public park with direct supervision and close proximity of the provider. The provider reports that there have been no accidents or injuries requiring first aid or medical treatment incurred by children in care since the last inspection. Thank you for your time during today's inspection. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance.
