Comments:
An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on October 30, 2023, from 11:05 a.m. through 12:15 p.m. Upon arrival, there were 10 children, ages 4 through 5, in the care of 2 staff.
The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 child and two staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Based on staff record review the center failed to obtain repeat background checks for one staff member.
Evidence:
1. Two staff records were reviewed. 2. Staff #2 did not have documentation of obtaining a repeat criminal history check and a Virginia Central Registry check. 3. Staff #2 last documented criminal history check was dated 08/17/2018. Las documented Virginia Central Registry check was documented 08/21/2017. 4. Administration confirmed repeat background checks had not been obtained within 5 years of the prior date.
