Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A renewal inspection was completed on June 3, 2020. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were no children present and two staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed two children records and two staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.
The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.
Based on a review of evacuation drills, the center failed to ensure that a practice evacuation drill was completed monthly.
Evidence: 1. There was no documentation of an evacuation drill completed for September 2019. 2. Staff verified that a practice evacuation drill was not completed for the month of September 2019.
Plan of Correction:
The school is the one responsible for completing the evacuation and shelter in place drills. In the future the Site Manager will complete a fire drill for the licensed programs of the school during the last week of the month if not completed by the school staff during the month.
