Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 12/31/19 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. An unannounced monitoring inspection was completed on 12/31/19. There were no children in care. Five children's records and five staff records were reviewed. No medications were for the children in care. The inspector arrived at the facility at 10:00 am and departed at 1:00 pm.
A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.
Based on record review and interview, the center failed to ensure that there was a written allergy care plan for each child with a diagnosed food allergy, to include instructions from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.
Evidence: 1. The physician for child #2 had documented on the child's physical dated 6/13/19 that the child was allergic to three different food items. There was no written allergy care plan observed in the child's record. The child care director stated that there was no written allergy care plan for the child's allergy.
Plan of Correction:
The child care director will contact the parent/school nurse to get a written allergy care plan.
