Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on February 6, 2023, from 9:50am to approximately 11:15am. There were 6 children present totaling 19 points and two staff members. The Inspector reviewed six children?s records and two staff records. The Inspectors observed staff and children?s interactions throughout the inspection. Children were observed during free play, diaper change, handwashing, and song/story time. No medications are administered at the center. Emergency preparedness documents and first aid kits were observed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and a violation was documented. The violation is listed on the violation notice issued to the center and reviewed with the provider at the exit interview.
Based on observation and interview, it was determined that the provider did not ensure that when a play pen is used it shall not be used for the designated sleeping area. Evidence: 1. Child #1 and Child #2 have play pens that were brought from home. Staff #1 reported that per the request of the parents that the children sleep in their pack and plays during nap. 2. Staff #1 confirmed and is aware that Child #1 and Child #2 should not use a play pen for the designated sleeping area.
Plan of Correction:
The provider responded with the following: As of the day of the inspection, Staff #1 will no longer allow the play pens in the home and have the children sleep on mats.
