Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia.
A monitoring inspection was initiated on Tuesday, June 8, 2021 and concluded on Wednesday, June 9, 2021. The director was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection. There were 42 children present and 9 staff. The inspector emailed the director a list of items required to complete the inspection. The Inspector reviewed 3 children?s records and 3 staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance(s) with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Based on review of staff records and interview with staff, the center did not ensure to obtain results of of a criminal history record information check, a sex offender registry check from any state in which the individual has resided in the preceding five years.
Evidence: In Staff#2's record (date of hire: 2/22/21), there were no results of an out of state criminal history and sex offender registry found. Interview with staff confirmed that the results of the required out of state searches were not available for review during this inspection.
Plan of Correction:
The center will follow through with all new changes related to out of state required searches for all new staff in the future.
