A unannounced complaint inspection was conducted an in response to a complaint that was received in the Licensing Office. Interviews were conducted, with staff relating to the allegation of sight and sound of the children. The preponderance of the evidence gathered during the investigation supports the allegation, so the complaint is determined to be "valid" .
Based on interviews with staff, the center failed to ensure that all children age 10 and under were with sight and sound supervision of staff.
Evidence: 1. Verified through interviews with staff, child # 1 was out of sight and sound supervision for approximately 2-4 minutes. Child # 1 (age 5) was transitioning to the school age classroom during nap time. Once nap was over the transitioning children would return to their p-k classroom in the other building. Child # 1 followed staff # 1 through the gym and breezeway. Staff # 1 entered the building and did not realize child # 1 was following him. Child # 1 was out of sight and sound supervision approximately 2-4 minutes while he walked from the classroom through the gym and breezeway. Staff # 2 let child # 1 into the building once he was observed outside.
Plan of Correction:
Policies were updated to ensure no child is left out of sight and sound supervision.
