Technical Assistance:
The provider shall ensure that the air conditioning unit and portable grills in the backyard are not accessed by the children in care.
Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including telephone contacts, documents review, and a virtual tour of the program.
A monitoring inspection was initiated and concluded on 8/30/2021. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 8 children present, ranging in ages from 3months to 2years, with the provider and two assistant caregivers supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 2 children's records and 3 caregiver records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on virtual observations, it was determined that one are of the home has not been maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: There is a long hose extended across the walkway area of the backyard play space. Because the children walk in this area, the hose is a tripping hazard.
Plan of Correction:
I will put the hose away when not in use.
Standard #:
22VAC40-111-500-C
Description:
Based on virtual observations, it was determined that one piece of playground equipment has been placed over a hard surface. Evidence: The provider has placed a toddler slide on top of the brick patio area in the backyard play space.
Plan of Correction:
I will move the slide to the soft yard area.
