Comments:
This annual subsidy inspection was conducted by the inspector using an alternate remote protocol necessary due to a state of emergency declared by the Governor of Virginia in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Preliminary data was obtained from the vendor on August 7, 2020. An annual subsidy inspection was initiated on August 25, 2020, at which time the vendor was contacted by telephone to initiate the inspection, and concluded on August 26, 2020. The inspector emailed the vendor a list of items required to complete the inspection. The vendor reported there were 48 children in care. The inspector reviewed three children?s records and three staff records submitted by the vendor to ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care programs. Information gathered during the inspection determined areas of non-compliance with applicable regulations or law, and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the vendor.
Based on record review, in one of three children's records reviewed, the vendor did not obtain all required parent contact information in each child's record.
Evidence: The Director confirmed that the work address for one parent had not been recorded in the record for Child #2.
Plan of Correction:
The work address will be obtained from the parent today.

Description:
Based on record review, in one of three staff records reviewed, the vendor did not ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within the first 90 days of employment or subsidy vendor approval.
Evidence: The Director confirmed that there was no documentation that Staff #2 (start date 10/30/19) completed the Preservice training.
Plan of Correction:
Staff will have the completed certificate by next Wednesday, September 2nd.
