An unannounced monitoring inspection was conducted on 09/10/2019 from 12:00 pm - 3:05 pm. At the time of entrance there were 13 children in care with four staff. The children ranged in age from toddler - five years. Children were observed during nap and early afternoon transition from nap to program time. Diapering and hand washing was reviewed after nap. Records were reviewed for six children and four staff. One medication review conducted.
Violations were found in two parts of the CDC standards and are listed on the violation notice.
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances shall be kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.
Evidence: 1. One bottle of hand sanitizer was observed on the shelf located above the hand washing sink in the preschool classroom. a. The label on this product indicates the contents as hazardous.
Plan of Correction:
The hand sanitizer was locked up during the inspection and all staff will be reminded to lock up hand sanitizer.

Description:
Based on interview, the center failed to ensure that nonprescription medication shall be administered by a staff member with current medication administration training.
Evidence: 1. Staff 1 stated that she applied a topical over-the-counter skin ointment to a child 1 on the morning of 09/10/2019. a. Staff 1 stated that she does not have medication administration certification.
Plan of Correction:
Going forward, only staff with current medication administration certification will apply over-the-counter ointments and medications.

Description:
Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that each first aid kit shall be easily accessible to staff but not to children.
Evidence: 1. The first aid kit in the toddler classroom was located behind the door to the classroom. The kit was inside of a backpack that was hanging from the door knob. The backpack was not locked nor was the first aid kit. a. The location of the backpack is accessible to the children in the classroom.
Plan of Correction:
The first aid kit was placed in an area of the classroom inaccessible to children.
