Technical Assistance:
The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) assumed oversight of child care licensing and monitoring on July 1, 2021. All associated regulations and codes have transferred over from the Virginia Department of Social Services. Guidance, resources and training links can be found on the new website: childcareva.com. The violations on the Violation Notice reflect the new VDOE codes and standards.
Comments:
A Monitoring inspection was initiated today. This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, including Facetime, documents review, interviews and a virtual tour of the program. The provider was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were a total of 10 children(32pts) present with 2 staff. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of 6 child records and 2 staff records and 1 household were reviewed. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program. Feel free to contact me if you need any assistance at: lisa.hudson@doe.virginia.gov.
Based on staff record review, one staff did not obtain the required 16 hours of annual training. Evidence: Staff #1 obtained 4 hours of documented training over the past year.
Plan of Correction:
All staff will complete the required 16 hours of staff training annually.
