An onsite announced complaint investigation was initiated on January 5, 2024. regarding emergency care for a child, medication administration and communication with parent. There were five children in care with three staff including the program administrator. Children and staff and center records were reviewed as related to the allegations The information gathered during the investigation confirmed that prescription medication was administered to a child in care and there was not any staff present with medication administration training. Therefore, the complaint is valid. The violation was discussed with the administrator during the exit meeting and it appears on the violation notice.
Complaint valid Based on interview the center failed to ensure that staff obtain medication administration training prior to administering prescription medications. Evidence: 1 - Staff #1 stated that she did administer prescription amoxicillin to Child #1 on November 1, 2023. 2 - Staff #1 stated that she did not have the required medication administration training.
