8VAC20-790 Subsidy Program Vendor Requirements for Family Day Homes

Comments:
A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted on 9/13/2023 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted today from 11:20am-12:55pm. There were 12 children (31 points) directly supervised by 3 staff. The home, 3 staff records, 5 children?s records, 3 household member?s records, evacuation drills, emergency supplies, and policies were inspected. Children were observed playing freely. There was an adequate supply of books, toys, and materials for the children. The home was clean and organized. The Both inspections combined cover subsidy health and safety regulations. Only subsidy regulations that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-170-G
Description: Based on observation, the vendor did not maintain a current written list of all children's allergies, sensitivities, and dietary restrictions.

Evidence:
The written allergy list did not include the name of each child that has been diagnosed with a food allergy.

Plan of Correction: We will update the allergy list ASAP and reflect the names.

Standard #: 8VAC20-790-190-B-12
Description: Based on record review and interview, a written care plan was not obtained for children with a diagnosed food allergy.

Evidence:
The records for Child #1, Child #2 and Child #3 did not contain a written food allergy care plan including instruction from a physician regarding the food to which the child is allergic and the steps to be taken in the event of a suspected or confirmed allergic reaction.

Plan of Correction: We will request allergy care plan including form from physician from each parent for each child.
