Comments:
This inspection was conducted by licensing staff using an alternate remote protocol, necessary due to a state of emergency health pandemic declared by the Governor of Virginia. A monitoring inspection was initiated on November 13, 2020 and concluded on November 16, 2020. There were 18 children present with seven staff. The inspector emialed the owner a list of items required to complete the inspection. The inspector reviewed two children's records and two staff records submitted by the facility to ensure documentation was complete. Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliances with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility. The Licensing Inspector has reviewed with the provider COVID-19 Essential Guidance for Child Care Programs.
Based on review of documentation, the licensee did not ensure that center shall implement a monthly practice evacuation drill.
Evidence: The administrator confirmed that there was no documentation of an evacuation drill practiced in June 2020.
Plan of Correction:
Going forward we will make sure that drills are completed.

Description:
Based on record review, in one of two staff records reviewed, the licensee did not ensure obtain a copy of the results of a criminal history record information check and sex offender registry check from any state in which the applicant has resided in the preceding five years.
Evidence: The administrator confirmed that there were no criminal history record or sex offender check results obtained prior to employment of Staff #1 (date of hire 11/09/2020).
Plan of Correction:
The background checks that were requested for that staff were completed and emailed this morning.
