Technical Assistance:
The provider has received approval from the local zoning office to care for up to 12 children. The provider has submitted a request to increase the licensed capacity to 12 when the license is renewed. This request will be considered when the license is processed for renewal.

Comments:
An unannounced full renewal inspection was conducted today. The provider was caring for 3 children, totaling 9 points. Children's records, caregiver training, caregiver health records, children's nutrition, the physical plant, emergency preparedness items, and provider:child interactions were inspected today. It was reported to the Inspector that no children's medications were on site today.

The children were observed playing with toys, finishing morning snack, building with Legos, and interacting with the provider.
All children continue to bring their own meals and snacks each day.

This inspection was completed between approximately 9:45am and 10:45am. Thank you for meeting with me today. If you have any questions regarding this inspection please email me at sandra.dimperio@dss.virginia.gov

Violations:
Standard #: 22VAC40-111-280
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that various potentially hazardous substances were not stored in a manner to keep them inaccessible to the children.
Evidence:
The provider has several containers of cleaning products stored beneath the kitchen sink. The children eat in the kitchen and have ongoing access to the kitchen area. The doors to the cabinet where the cleaners are stored were not locked. This method of storage does not prevent access to the cleaners by the children.

Plan of Correction: The cabinet was immediately locked during the inspection.

Standard #: 22VAC40-111-320-B
Description: Based on observations, it was determined that two electrical outlets were not covered.
Evidence:
In the basement child care room, two electrical outlets on the lower portion of the wall were not covered.

Plan of Correction: I will cover the outlets today before we go downstairs.
