8VAC20-780 Staffing and Supervision
Comments:
An unannounced inspection was conducted today in response to a self-reported incident regarding supervision of children. Based on interviews conducted, violations were cited for supervision and are identified in the Violation Notice

Based on interview, a child under 10 years of age was not within actual sight and sound supervision of staff.
Evidence: 1. Child #1 was with Staff A in the office when Staff A received a phone call and left the office for approximately less than 1 minute to check on a child in a classroom.
Plan of Correction:
Staff thought that another administrator was in their office and could see and hear the child. The staff had left their office to help a classroom.
From now on when a child is in the office the staff is responsible unless clearly communicated with additional staff if help is needed. We will be very clear of transfer of responsibility of supervision of a child who has been removed from a classroom.
