Technical Assistance:
The following standard was reviewed: 8VAC20-780-(6)-420-E-1 For each infant, the center shall post a daily record which can be easily accessed by both the parent and the staff working with the child. The record shall contain documentation for infants that are awake and cannot turn over by themselves, the amount of time spent on their stomachs.

Comments:
A renewal inspection was initiated on 2/23/22 and concluded on 2/25/22. The director was contacted by telephone and a virtual inspection was conducted. There were 102 children present, ranging in ages from infants to five, with 28 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, physical plant, staffing and supervision, programming, medication, special care and emergencies and nutrition. A total of four child records and four staff records were reviewed.
Information gathered during the inspection determined noncompliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the facility.

Description: Based on observations, the center failed to maintain all areas of the center in a clean and safe condition.

Evidence:

The changing pad in the toddlers classroom was torn on two corners exposing the absorbent sponge.

Plan of Correction: A new changing pad has been ordered. Staff will be advised to let administration know when changing pads need to be replaced in the future.
