A Subsidy Health and Safety inspection was conducted . from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on 1/24/2020 to review supplemental health and safety requirements. At the time of entrance there were 5 children, ages 5 to 9 years old in care with 2 staff. The records sample size consisted of 5 children?s records. Two staff records were reviewed during a record review at the AlphaBEST Area Managers? office on 2/3/2020 and 2/4/2020. Children were observed socializing, using hand held electronic devices, and playing table top games / activities. Staff stated that no medication is being administered to children in care at this time and that children are not transported in a vehicle while in care. There are currently no children enrolled who have diagnosed food allergies : A licensing inspection was also conducted this date; the two inspections combined cover all subsidy health and safety requirements. Only subsidy requirements that are not covered in licensing standards are reviewed during this supplemental inspection. Violations were found during the supplemental subsidy health and safety inspection requirements and are identified on the violation notice.Thank you for your time during today's inspection. Please do not hesitate to contact me if I may be of assistance.
Based on record review and interview, the vendor did not ensure that all staff who work directly with children shall complete Virginia Preservice Training for Child Care Staff within their first 90 days of employment.
Evidence: Two (all) staff records were reviewed. The record for staff #2, whose date of hire was documented in her record as 9/13/19, did not contain documentation of Virginia Preservice Training. The area manager confirmed that documentation of this training had been requested of staff #2 but had not been received.
Plan of Correction:
The area manager stated that this staff would obtain the Virginia Preservice Training by Friday, and documentation would be placed in the employee's record
