Comments:
An unannounced renewal inspection was conducted on 2/29/2024. There were 68 children, ages 7 months-5 years, 19 staff and 3 administrative staff present during the inspection. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of administration, personnel, environment and equipment, care of children, preventing the spread of disease, emergencies and nutrition. A total of 5 children?s records and 5 staff records were reviewed. Medications were observed during the inspection. The children were observed during playground time, center time, circle time and lunch. The inspector arrived for the inspection at 10:30am and departed the center at 12:17pm.

Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the provider.

Violations:
Standard #: 8VAC20-780-280-B
Description: Based on observation, the center failed to ensure that hazardous substances, such as cleaning materials, were kept in a locked place using a safe locking method that prevents access by children.

Evidence: Licensing staff observed a red O Cedar mop that contained cleaning solution to the right of the toilet in the bathroom in Classroom H. No children were observed in the area but it was accessible to children.

Plan of Correction: Provider will move mop to an area inaccessible to children.
