Comments:
A complaint inspection was initiated on 8/8/23 and concluded on 8/8/23. There were 65 children present with 11 staff supervising. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of staffing and supervision, medication, and special care and emergencies. The inspection started at 9:18am and concluded at 11:30am.
The information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on observations and discussions with staff the center failed to ensure that ratios were met as required.
Evidence:
On the morning of 8/8/23 the inspector observed 11 children, aged 16mths-2yrs, in the care of 2 staff. The required ratio for this grouping of children is 1 staff to 5 children.

Description:
Based on observations and discussions with staff the center failed to ensure that ratios were met as required.
Evidence:
On the morning of 8/8/23, upon entering the classroom, the inspector observed 13 children aged 2yrs-3yrs with 1 staff. The required ratio was not met for approximately 3 minutes. The required ratio for this age grouping is 1 staff to 8 children.

Description:
Based on discussions with staff the center failed to ensure that emergency medications were administered by an appropriately certified staff member as required.
Evidence:
Staff confirmed that an Inhaler and Insulin were being administered, to 2 children, by staff who only have the MAT certification. These staff do not have certification in Emergency MAT as required to administer these type of medications.
Plan of Correction:
Staff will obtain the required Emergency MAT certification in order to continue to administer emergency medications.
