A complaint inspection was initiated on 01/18/24 and concluded on 01/18/24. The inspector reviewed compliance in the areas of staffing and supervision. The inspection started at 9:15am and concluded at 9:45am.
Information gathered during the inspection determined non-compliance with applicable standards or law and violations were documented on the violation notice issued to the program.
Based on interviews the center failed to ensure a child under 10 years of age was within actual sight and sound supervision as required.
Evidence:
On 1/9/24 at approximately 4:30pm a child (17 month old) was in the hallway outside his classroom door unsupervised.
The group of children and 2 staff were combining with another classroom. The group of children and both staff walked down the hall and entered the other classroom. Staff #1 was the last to enter the classroom, bringing up the rear of the group of children. She closed the door and immediately did a head count, while standing in front of the closed door, she realized a she was short a child. She immediately opened the door and found the child outside the door ,with another child's parent who happened to be coming down the hall at the time of this incident. Staff 1 stated that the child was outside the door in the hallway for no more than a minute.
Plan of Correction:
Administrative incident/discipline policies and procedures were completed for this incident. All staff were reminded of the supervision requirements.
