Comments:
An unannounced Monitoring inspection was conducted onsite today. A total of 6 children (16pts/1 child belonging to the Provider) with 2 staff were present. The children were observed transitioning to outside water play. Staff was observed assisting with changing them into swimsuits and applying sunblock. A walk thru of the programming space, crib room, bathroom and main living area was conducted. Observation of diapering procedures was made. The children transitioned outside where they played in water sprinkling equipment, water tables and interacted with staff. Positive interaction was observed between the children and staff. A total of 2 children's files and 1 staff file was reviewed. One new child enrolled since the last inspection, all other children's records remain complete. No new staff/household members since the last inspection. All background checks remain current at this time. No medication needs or identified food allergies found. This inspection began at approximately 10:45am and ended at 12:10pm. Previous violation found at the last inspection was reviewed and corrected. Thank you for your cooperation today. Based on observation of the family day home, one area of the home was not maintained in a safe condition. Evidence: The molding around the door leading to the screened porch has peeling paint which is within reach of children in care.
Plan of Correction:
The molding will be repainted to ensure there is no peeling paint accessible to children in care.
Standard #:
8VAC20-800-690-E
Description:
Based on observation of the diapering area, the receptacle used to dispose soiled diapers is a system which allows the caregiver's hand to touch the exterior surface. Evidence: The step on pail used to dispose diapers has a covering that is required to be lifted by a hand in order to dispose the soiled diaper.
Plan of Correction:
A step on pail that does not have the plastic cover will be purchased and used for disposing soiled diapers.
